Le gouvernement venait d'immoler deux partis a la fois. Le premier, celui
des ultra-revolutionnaires, etait veritablement redoutable, ou pouvait le
devenir; le second, celui des nouveaux moderes, ne l'etait pas. Sa
destruction n'etait donc pas necessaire, mais pouvait etre utile, pour
ecarter toute apparence de moderation. Le comite le frappa sans conviction,
par hypocrisie et par envie. Ce dernier coup etait difficile a porter; on
vit tout le comite hesiter, et Robespierre rentrer

Louis-Adolphe Thiers (Marseille, April 16, 1797September 3, 1877) was a French politician and historian. Thiers was a prime minister under King Louis-Philippe of France. Following the overthrow of the Second Empire he again came to prominence as the French leader who suppressed the revolutionary Paris Commune of 1871. From 1871 to 1873 he served initially as Head of State (effectively a provisional President of France), then provisional President. When, following a vote of no confidence in the National Assembly, his offer of resignation was accepted (he had expected a rejection) he was forced to vacate the office. He was replaced as Provisional President by Patrice MacMahon, duc de Magenta, who became full President of the Republic, a post Thiers had coveted, in 1875 when a series of constitutional laws officially creating the Third Republic were enacted.

Alice Henry (March 21, 1857 - February 15, 1943), was an Australian suffragist, journalist and trade unionist who also became prominent in the American trade union movement as a member of the Womens Trade Union League.

Various, or Various Production, is an English dubstep/electronic music duo formed in 2003. The group blends samples, acoustic and electronic instrumentation, and singing from a revolving cast of vocalists. Its members, Adam and Ian, purposefully give very little information about the group or themselves, and tend to do little in the way of self-promotion.[1] Nevertheless, the group began winning critical acclaim with its single releases in 2005 and 2006.[2] Their full-length for XL, The World is Gone, arrived in July of 2006.[3][4][5][6][7] They have released a large number of vinyl EPs and 7 records, as well as digital exclusives for Rough Trade, iTunes, and Boomkat.[8]
